Guiltology, a six-part factual series, premieres on U on Thursday, August 22. The show combines science and true crime, with each episode focusing on a true-crime case solved by advancements in forensic science or technology.
The series is narrated by the lead detectives of each case, who guide viewers through their most challenging and enduring investigations.
Episode 1, “The Murdered Bride,” follows the LAPD as they investigate the murder of a newlywed in 1986, initially believed to be a burglary gone wrong. However, decades later, new DNA analysis reveals a surprising twist.
In Episode 2, “Left for Dead,” a detective thinks he has a straightforward case in 2002 when he has both DNA and a license plate from a violent rape case. However, neither piece of evidence provides a match, and the case goes cold until a breakthrough five years later.
Episode 3, “The Green River Killer,” explores the hunt for America’s most prolific serial killer, whose first victims were discovered in 1982. The killer eluded capture for two decades until forensic microscopy linked particles from the victims’ clothes to the perpetrator.
Episode 4, “Murder in Vegas” looks into a grisly discovery made in 1995—charred bones and a skull with five bullet holes found inside a burnt antique trunk in the Nevada desert.
Episode 5, “The Atlanta Bomber,” focuses on a series of bombings that began at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, killing one person and injuring hundreds. As more bombs detonate, law enforcement agencies realize they are dealing with a serial bomber.
Finally, in Episode 6, “Lady in the Barrel,” detectives investigate the murder of a woman whose body is found in a barrel, along with an address book, providing a crucial lead in the case.
All episodes of Guiltology will be available to stream on U from Thursday, August 22.
