From the controlled chaos of a fire station to the unpredictable wilderness of the Cairngorms, Guy Martin continues his quest for, well, proper jobs. This episode sees him attempting to become a mountain rescue dog handler, and let’s just say his own furry companion, Keith, doesn’t quite make the grade. After an evaluation by expert trainer Stu McIntyre, Keith is deemed better suited to chasing squirrels than saving lives. Disappointed but undeterred, Martin heads to the Cairngorms, one of Britain’s most unforgiving landscapes, for some serious training.

The Cairngorms are no joke. Known for their treacherous terrain and rapidly changing weather conditions, they demand respect, and Martin’s about to get a crash course in survival. He’s partnered with Pippa, a seasoned search and rescue dog, and the two begin the difficult task of learning to work as a team. Searching vast, unfamiliar territory for lost souls requires more than just a good dog; it requires communication, trust, and the ability to think on your feet.

The episode culminates in a high-stakes test. Martin and Pippa are dropped by helicopter into a remote area and tasked with locating a “casualty.” It’s a trial by fire (or, more accurately, by freezing winds and rocky crags) that will determine whether Martin has the stamina and skill to handle this demanding profession. Will he and Pippa succeed, or will the mountains prove too much?
