As autumn takes hold, Hamza Yassin seeks out some of Britain’s most surprising and elusive wildlife. His journey begins on the south Devon coast in pursuit of a true ocean giant: the Atlantic bluefin tuna. These powerful predators have returned to UK waters, and witnessing them hunt is a spectacular display of nature’s raw power.
From the coast to the capital, Hamza then ventures into London’s Highgate Cemetery for a night time stakeout. He hopes to catch a glimpse of the cemetery’s most secretive residents, the urban foxes who have made this gothic necropolis their own. Finally, he descends into a cave system in Northern Ireland, where a hidden world of strange creatures awaits, including a newly discovered species of cave spider and a bizarre fungus that turns them into zombies.
Hamza’s Hidden Wild Isles airs Sunday October 26, at 6:15 PM on BBC One.
