Netflix has announced a New Year’s Day premiere for Harlan Coben’s Missing You, the latest thriller from the master of suspense. Based on Coben’s novel, this five-part limited series centers on Detective Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar), whose life takes a sharp turn when her long-lost love, Josh, pops up on a dating app eleven years after vanishing.
Naturally, this digital reunion sparks a complicated emotional reaction. Josh’s sudden reappearance forces Kat to confront unresolved issues, including her father’s unsolved murder, and unearth buried secrets from the past. And, of course, she has to figure out just what the heck Josh is doing back in the picture. Seriously, dude? Eleven years?
Adding to the drama, Missing You boasts a cast packed with recognizable British TV faces. Richard Armitage (something of a Coben regular these days), Sir Lenny Henry, Steve Pemberton, Jessica Plummer, Mary Malone, Lisa Faulkner, and James Nesbitt round out a strong ensemble likely to draw viewers into Coben’s twisty world.
This latest Coben adaptation follows the success of Fool Me Once, another Netflix hit, and maintains the streamer’s relationship with the author. Like its predecessor, Missing You has been adapted for a British setting, with filming taking place in and around Manchester. Quay Street Productions, also responsible for Fool Me Once, is behind this production.
Harlan Coben’s Missing You premieres on Netflix on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
