Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking Conjures Up Season 2 on Food Network

Harry Potter Wizards of Baking Key Art

Food Network’s Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking is back for seconds. Not entirely surprising, given the first season’s frankly ludicrous ratings success. Apparently, combining beloved IP with the inherent comfort of baking shows is a recipe for, well, a lot of viewers.

The show, which became the top non-news/sports cable program on Thursday nights for the coveted 25-54 demographic during its initial run, reached over 16.4 million viewers across linear TV, Max, and discovery+. That’s a whole lot of Butterbeer cupcakes and Golden Snitch cake pops being consumed, both literally and figuratively.

Returning for more magical mayhem are hosts James and Oliver Phelps (aka Fred and George Weasley), along with judges Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef. Last season saw a parade of Harry Potter film alums — Warwick Davis, Evanna Lynch, Bonnie Wright, and others — popping in to offer their judging expertise (or lack thereof, depending on your perspective).

The series continues to leverage its Warner Bros. connection, filming at the actual Leavesden Studios sets used in the Harry Potter films. This gives the show a distinct visual edge over your average baking competition, even if the inherent silliness of a “Sorting Hat Cake Challenge” occasionally threatens to overwhelm the proceedings. Hey, it worked last time, so why mess with a winning formula?

Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking is expected to return later this year.
