HBO Doco “How Do You Measure a Year?” Premieres June 14
In honor of Father’s Day, the HBO documentary short HOW DO YOU MEASURE A YEAR?, directed by Jay Rosenblatt (HBO’s Oscar®-nominated “When We Were Bullies,” “Phantom Limb,” “The Darkness of Day,” and “Human Remains”), premieres on the network on Wednesday, June 14 at 9:00PM ET/PT and can be viewed on the streaming service Max.
What is the documentary about
Jay Rosenblatt, a filmmaker, filmed his daughter Ella every year on her birthday in the same location and asked her the same set of questions. In just 29 minutes, we get to experience her entire life, from the adorable baby years to the clumsy teen years. Each moment is fleetingly recorded but leaves a permanent impression. What really happens is a story about parental love, acceptance, and, ultimately, independence, with her answers to her father’s questions serving as a backdrop.
