The HBO Original series Like Water for Chocolate is set to debut on Sunday, November 3, on HBO Latino in the United States, with episodes available globally on Max. New episodes will air weekly.
This series, produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, Ventanarosa Productions, Endemol Shine North America, and Endemol Shine Boomdog, brings the Mexican literary classic to life, blending magical realism and culinary artistry.
The storyline follows Tita de la Garza and Pedro Múzquiz, whose love is hindered by traditional family expectations. Tita’s profound connection to cooking allows her to express emotions and passions she otherwise cannot, turning her kitchen into a refuge and source of resistance. Set during the Mexican Revolution, the series also highlights women’s struggles for autonomy in a deeply patriarchal society. Filmed across stunning locations in Mexico, the series immerses viewers in the rich historical context of the era.
The ensemble cast is led by Irene Azuela as Mamá Elena, Azul Guaita as Tita, and Ana Valeria Becerril as Rosaura, with Andrés Baida playing Pedro. Executive producers include Salma Hayek Pinault, José Tamez, and Siobhan Flynn for Ventanarosa Productions.
