HBO’s “IT’S FLORIDA, MAN.” Renewed for Season 2

It's Florida Man Key Art

HBO is heading back to the land of sunshine, swamps, and spectacularly strange news headlines. “IT’S FLORIDA, MAN.,” the series that proves truth is often stranger (and funnier) than fiction, has snagged a second season renewal. And really, who’s surprised?

For those not yet indoctrinated into the peculiar joys of “IT’S FLORIDA, MAN.,” the show takes those gloriously absurd news stories that routinely emerge from the Sunshine State and brings them to life with a blend of interviews featuring actual Floridians who’ve witnessed the madness and comedic reenactments starring a murderer’s row of comedic talent.

We’re talking Anna Faris, Jake Johnson, Randall Park, Juliette Lewis, and Sam Richardson, just to name a handful. Over two dozen guest stars, including Jon Gries, Ego Nwodim, and Simon Rex, also popped up in the first season. The formula is simple, the execution is sharp, and the results speak for themselves. The program has managed to coax 2.3 million viewers across platforms making it one of the top 3 most-watched series on Max since its debut in October. Not bad for a show built on the premise that Florida is a never-ending source of what-the-hell moments.

Before we start planning our viewing parties for Season 2, let’s remember the inaugural season isn’t quite over yet. The first season finale is scheduled to drop this Friday, November 22, on HBO and Max. So, there’s still time to witness the series tackle a diverse range of topics, from mermaids and witches to extreme fantasies and feral bunnies. All the classics, in other words.

“IT’S FLORIDA, MAN.” is created and executive produced by Mark Herwick for Range Studios and Jeff Tomsic, who also directs. Executive producers include Danny McBride and Brandon James for Rough House Pictures, and Bryan Storkel serves as showrunner.
