After eight years away, fashion fans can rejoice as Heidi Klum is set to make a surprising return to “Project Runway” for its Freeform reboot. This news will surely be welcomed by the show’s loyal fanbase who have missed her presence since her departure. Klum originally hosted the show for its first 16 seasons, from 2004 to 2017 when it aired on Bravo and Lifetime. The upcoming reboot on Freeform aims to modernize the series for a new generation, while still appealing to longtime fans of the format.

Since leaving “Project Runway” back in 2017, Klum has become known for her role as a judge on “America’s Got Talent,” in addition to co-creating the fashion competition “Making the Cut” with Tim Gunn for Prime Video. Her return to the runway represents a full-circle moment for both Klum and the show itself. The shift to Freeform will bring in a fresh approach, but the familiar presence of Heidi Klum at the helm will provide a sense of continuity for the show’s devotees.

Her previous work on the series, which earned her a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Host in 2013, shows she is more than qualified to host this new iteration of the show. It was Karlie Kloss and Christian Siriano who took over hosting and mentoring duties when the show returned to Bravo in 2019, but the audience reaction to Klum’s return shows how closely she is identified with the format.
