Henry Winkler’s New Show is Basically a History of “Hold My Beer…” Moments

Henry Winkler, the Fonz himself, is hosting a new show on The HISTORY Channel, and it’s all about the crazy, dangerous stuff Americans used to do for fun (or, you know, because they didn’t know any better). It’s called Hazardous History with Henry Winkler.

Here’s the Lowdown: This isn’t your typical history lesson. We’re talking about eight episodes packed with things that would make safety inspectors today faint: think cocaine in soft drinks, doctors recommending cigarettes, and toys that glowed in the dark for real. The show’s produced by A+E Factual Studios™ group in association with GroupM Motion Entertainment.

What This Means Now: It’s a reminder that what we consider “safe” is constantly evolving. This show throws a spotlight on how much things have changed, and how much we’ve (hopefully) learned about risk.

The Bigger Picture: Winkler’s charm is a big part of the appeal. He’ll guide us through these hour-long episodes, each one a deep dive into a different aspect of America’s reckless past. It’s a look at how innovation and plain old dumb luck sometimes went hand-in-hand. You can catch episodes the day after they air on The HISTORY Channel app, history.com, and on-demand platforms.
