HGTV has closed the door on Married to Real Estate, cancelling the Atlanta-based renovation series after four seasons. The news broke late Tuesday, June 24, when hosts Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson confirmed the show’s end on Instagram, just days after returning from a family trip.
The couple, who built the show around flipping homes while raising a family, didn’t share specifics on the network’s decision. But their tone was clear: disappointment, gratitude, and an eye on what’s next. “Still very much married to real estate (and to each other),” Sherrod wrote, adding that the experience had been “a blessing” and the next chapter was already taking shape.
The abrupt end caps a 44-episode run that began in January 2022. The series positioned Sherrod and Jackson as the faces of HGTV’s Atlanta slate, blending design expertise with family dynamics. Their onscreen chemistry and fan base helped make the show a reliable player for the network. Still, it joins a recent streak of cancellations, including Bargain Block, which also announced its exit last week.
HGTV has not issued a public statement.
Sherrod, who previously fronted Flipping Virgins, and Jackson, known as DJ Fadelf, won Season 3 of Rock the Block in 2023. Their profile within the home reno world remains strong, with multiple off-screen business ventures continuing. Jackson hinted at a longer-form response down the line, noting, “God makes no mistakes. However, people and opinions do.”
Among those reacting publicly was HGTV mainstay Ty Pennington, who called the cancellation “shocking” and praised the pair’s work and professionalism. His comments reflect a growing frustration within the talent pool, as networks continue to recalibrate their lineups amid broader cost cuts and shifting viewer habits.
For fans, the show may be over, but Sherrod and Jackson aren’t going anywhere.
