HGTV’s ‘Renovation Resort Showdown’ Returns With $100K Up for Grabs

Renovation Resort Showdown

HGTV is reopening its luxury lakeside construction zone. Renovation Resort Showdown returns for Season 2 on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 9:00 PM ET/PT, bringing back Scott McGillivray and Bryan Baeumler to test another wave of renovation hopefuls.

The setup remains simple and ruthless. Four new design-build teams are dropped into empty waterfront cabins and given eight weeks, a $150,000 budget, and a mandate to deliver standout vacation homes. At stake is a $100,000 cash prize, and a full season’s worth of judgement from two of HGTV’s most recognisable faces.

This season’s competitors include married Toronto duo Cami and Chris, Charlotte-based friends Melissa and Shannon, Philadelphia couple Rasheeda and Jake, and Ontario father-daughter pair Hollie and Graham. Each team brings its own aesthetic, design muscle, and renovation strategy, but the format keeps everyone on equal footing: same budget, same deadline, same terrain.

The eight-episode run opens with a primary bedroom and ensuite bathroom challenge. Teams are also tasked with a custom headboard build as a bonus feature. Across the season, they’ll be judged on kitchens, great rooms, recreation zones, outdoor entertainment spaces, and more. Guest experts will join McGillivray and Baeumler each week to weigh in.

The format leans heavily on the friendly rivalry between McGillivray (Vacation House Rules) and Baeumler (Battle on the Beach), who trade jabs while mentoring and critiquing the teams. Their dynamic, along with the high-stakes design pressure, has helped HGTV carve out a reliable summer hit in the genre.
