Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank has joined the cast of Yellowjackets for its third season as a recurring guest star. The series, produced by Showtime, has yet to reveal details about Swank’s role, but she may be portraying the present-day version of a character connected to the teen survivors of a plane crash. Swank’s involvement could extend into future seasons if the series is renewed for a fourth installment.
Yellowjackets features a large ensemble cast including Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, and Elijah Wood, with the story alternating between the survivors’ experiences as teenagers and their lives as adults.
The plot focuses on how they managed to survive for 19 months in the wilderness following the crash and the lingering effects on their present-day lives. The addition of Swank is expected to further expand the narrative as the show progresses.
