Holiday Wars “Moana 2” Inspires Edible Island Holiday Party (Food Network, Sunday, November 24, 2024)

Holiday Wars

The holidays can be a bit much can’t they. Between the forced merriment and the inevitable fruitcake, it’s easy to become a bit jaded. But fear not, Food Network’s “Holiday Wars” returns to inject a dose of sugar-fueled escapism into the season, and this year, things are going bigger – literally.

In the Season 6 premiere, “Island Holiday Party,” airing Sunday, November 24th, the show takes a page from Disney’s “Moana 2,” transporting viewers to the tropical paradise of Motunui. Six teams of cake, cookie, and sugar artists will face off, tasked with constructing edible displays inspired by an island holiday celebration. Think towering volcanoes of sponge cake, cascading waterfalls of white chocolate, and outrigger canoes crafted entirely from gingerbread. Okay, maybe not gingerbread, but you get the idea.

The twist this time around? For the first time in “Holiday Wars” history, the displays must reach a minimum height of three feet. This added requirement isn’t just for visual spectacle (though that’s certainly a bonus), it presents a significant engineering challenge for the teams. Balancing structural integrity with artistic flair is no easy feat, especially when your medium is fondant and gum paste.

Presiding over this edible extravaganza are judges Shinmin Li and Kardea Brown, ready to deliver their verdicts with a mix of culinary expertise and festive cheer. One team’s island getaway will be cut short, as the premiere episode concludes with an elimination, sending one group of sugar-slingers packing. Will the pressure to build big lead to colossal collapses, or will we witness the birth of a three-foot-tall masterpiece?

Tune in to Food Network on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 9:00 PM to witness the sugary showdown and find out who will conquer the “Moana 2” inspired challenge.
