“Homicide Hunter: American Detective”, Joe Kenda Returns to ID

On Wednesday, January 25 at 10/9c, ID will premiere six brand new episodes of HOMICIDE HUNTER: AMERICAN DETECTIVE, which will also be made available to stream on discovery+.

Each episode of HOMICIDE HUNTER: AMERICAN DETECTIVE profiles a different homicide detective whose dogged efforts helped deliver justice for the victim, as Lt. Joe Kenda trades in his own case files to offer viewers remarkable cases from across the country.

We follow Joe Kenda, the captivating raconteur whose gruff voice and hilarious remarks keep us hanging on every word, as he takes us through the intricate turns each case took and the tenacious investigative work it needed to solve the seemingly unsolvable.

Knowing that it takes a certain kind of person to be an AMERICAN DETECTIVE, Joe Kenda is using his new series to highlight other investigators whose dogged investigation of a gruesome crime led to the capture and conviction of the perpetrator. Hardworking father of five is shot in the back of the head in the pilot episode, “Prodigal Son,” and is found dead on the kitchen floor. To get to the bottom of the case, Det. James Colley must untangle a web of tangled ties and odd delusions.

Who is Joe Kenda

Lt. Joe Kenda, a Colorado Springs police officer for 23 years, specialized in homicide investigations and led the Major Crimes Unit for 21. Kenda and his squad have one of the greatest solve rates in the country, solving 356 out of 387 homicide cases. Lt. Joe Kenda retired from the police service and became the star of the American true-crime documentary series Homicide Hunter, which aired for nine seasons on Investigation Discovery (ID). To date, he has published two books, “I Will Find You” and “Killer Triggers,” and on January 26, 2022, the second season of his new series American Detective with Lt. Joe Kenda will be available on discovery+.
