Horsepower: Series Premiere (BBC Four, Tuesday July 9, 2024)

Documentary series Horsepower, kicks off with back-to-back episodes on BBC Four this July 9, 2024. The series offers a unique insight into the world of horse racing and the people dedicated to this sport.

In the first episode, viewers are taken to the end of the 2020 season, where a sense of uncertainty looms over jockey Oisin Murphy as he defends his title whilst facing a ban from racing. Meanwhile, trainer Andrew Balding juggles preparing horses for races in the US while also scouting for new talent.

Episode 2 looks into the challenges of winter for the staff at Kingsclere, as Andrew sends some of his runners to compete in the Middle East. The episode also follows the story of Abdul, a refugee groom, who is on a mission to find his missing brother from Sudan. After serving his ban, Oisin makes a return to the track, riding a prize filly.
