Hulu has officially cancelled UnPrisoned, a dramedy series centered around the Alexander family, after two seasons. Kerry Washington, the series’ star and executive producer, announced the news on social media, expressing gratitude to fans, cast, and crew for their involvement. Washington noted the show was a “labor of love” and acknowledged the deep connections viewers formed with the story and characters.
UnPrisoned followed Paige Alexander, a single mother and therapist, as her life is disrupted when her father, portrayed by Delroy Lindo, is released from prison and moves in with her and her teenage son. The show focused on family relationships, tackling emotional and social issues in its narrative.
The second and final season, consisting of eight episodes, premiered on July 17, 2023.
