Peacock has released the trailer for Hysteria!, a pop-horror series premiering on October 18, 2024. Starring Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), and Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead), the show is set in the late 1980s during the height of the “Satanic Panic.”
The plot follows a group of outcast high school students who, after the disappearance of their town’s star quarterback, exploit the fear surrounding the occult to gain notoriety as a “Satanic” heavy metal band.
As strange occurrences, including kidnappings and alleged supernatural activity, grip the town, the teenagers find themselves at the center of a growing witch hunt. The series examines generational fears, exploring the tension between youthful rebellion and adult paranoia, set against a backdrop of murder investigations and mass hysteria.
The eight-episode series will be available to binge on Peacock, with the first episode simulcast on USA Network and SYFY. Matthew Scott Kane and David A. Goodman, known for The Orville, serve as writers and executive producers. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are also executive producers, alongside Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, and Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who directs several episodes.
