Indira Varma joins “Doctor Who” as The Duchess
The new season of Doctor Who will feature the intergalactic adventures of award-winning actress Indira Varma. Indira first appeared in Russell T. Davies’s Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood as Suzie Costello, and she now boards the TARDIS as the mysterious Duchess.
Indira has left her mark on the silver screen with her roles as Ellaria Sand on Game of Thrones and Ingrid on the recent thriller series Obsession. She recently starred in Obi-Wan Kenobi – Disney+’s critically acclaimed Star Wars series, and now she’s joined Doctor Who.
Indira has also achieved success on the stage, where she has starred in numerous critically acclaimed productions such as Man and Superman and Jamie Lloyd’s adaptation of Chekhov’s The Seagull, for which she won an Olivier Award.

Doctor Who returns November 2023 with three specials featuring David Tennant as the 14th Doctor. These episodes are part of the show’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Then during the holidays, viewers can watch Ncuti Gatwa’s debut as the 15th Doctor.
