Florida. Sunshine, beaches, and… rampant bunnies? Yes, you read that right. HBO’s “It’s Florida, Man” returns with an episode so inherently absurd, it could only come from the Sunshine State. This week’s installment, “Bunnies,” hops onto Jenada Isle where a seemingly idyllic community is facing a unique crisis: an absolute infestation of abandoned rabbits.
Forget gators in swimming pools or iguanas falling from trees. This time, it’s fluffy tails and twitching noses as the stars of this real-life Floridian farce. “Bunnies” chronicles the escalating chaos as the bunny population explodes, leaving residents bewildered and local rescuers scrambling. One can only imagine the reenactments – picture panicked homeowners barricading their gardens, hapless meter readers dodging bunny hordes, and perhaps a dramatic slow-motion shot of a rogue rabbit nibbling a prized hibiscus.
The episode also looks to address the underlying ethical quandaries of the bunny bonanza. Who is responsible for these abandoned creatures? What are the ecological consequences? And, perhaps most importantly, what’s the proper protocol for gently relocating a bunny that’s decided your mailbox is its new burrow?
“Bunnies” airs Friday, November 15, at 11:00 PM on HBO.
