ITV Releases Official Portrait of Coronation Street Legend Barbara Knox

In honour of Barbara Knox’s 90th birthday this weekend, ITV Studios has released an official birthday portrait of the actress.

After making a guest appearance as exotic dancer Rita Littlewood in 1964, Barbara has played the role of ‘Rita‘ on Coronation Street for over 50 years.

The legendary Mavis Riley (Thelma Barlow) and Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) are just two of Rita’s many ‘Corrie’ sidekicks. Rita took over ‘The Kabin’ in 1973.

Rita has been married three times (to Len Fairclough, Ted Sullivan, and Dennis Tanner) and has received more marriage proposals (15 from 12 men) than any other character in the show.

A documentary titled “Barbara Knox at 90” will air on ITV1 and ITVX next month as part of the commemorations.
