ITV has won Best Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the DataIQ Awards 2022, honouring the best individuals, teams and developments in the data world.

In addition to this, ITV jointly won the Shared Data, Shared Culture award alongside global technology consultancy, Thoughtworks. The pair were recognised for their Data Mesh approach which focuses on delivering data-driven value in a scalable way.

ITV had a record-breaking moment as it became the only company to be shortlisted in six categories alongside brands including Sky Media, PWC, Barclays, NHS and more. The 10th annual DataIQ Awards saw their highest entry rate this year, with over 400 entries. The ceremony took place on Thursday in central London with 500 data industry experts.

The award wins follow the delivery of a number of initiatives around diversity and inclusion, including the Diversity Acceleration Plan which sets out ITV’s commitments to reflect viewer diversity on and off screen. As well as ITV’s focus on increasing diversity in the recruitment process. ITV’s Data Resourcing team have re-examined every aspect of the recruitment process – quadrupling the team size in nine months. As a result, ITV has seen an increase of 52 per cent in female diversity and 33 per cent in Black Asian Minority Ethnic representation across all levels.

Sanjeevan Bala, Chief Data Officer at ITV, said: “This is a proud moment for us, being recognised for our efforts in diversifying our workforces and overall pursuit of creating an inclusive culture at ITV. The DataIQ Awards grow in importance every year as our world changes.

“Data sits at the heart of ITV’s digital transformation and with the launch of ITVX, this will continue to be a priority. Our joint award with Thoughtworks, shows that we’ve got the industry’s support and our value based approach to innovation is cutting through.”
