ITVX commissions true-crime series “TIKTOK: Murders Gone Viral”

A new true-crime show called TIKTOK: Murders Gone Viral has been commissioned by ITVX. The story of Mahek Bukhari, a 24-year-old TikTok influencer better known by her username MayBVlogs, who was recently convicted of double murder in a fatal car crash on the A46, along with her mother, will be one of three high-profile murder cases covered. All three gained global attention on the app.
Each episode of the 3×60 series will focus on a different murder case, featuring exclusive interviews, in-depth police investigation details, and never-before-seen footage. The aim is to keep the murder victims at the centre of the narrative, providing an intimate insight into the individuals involved. Reflecting the influence of social media on the true crime genre, production company Nine Lives will rely heavily on TikTok archives to shed light on the complex dynamics between the victims and perpetrators.
The series has been commissioned for ITVX by Nicola Lloyd, Factual Commissioning Editor, and Sue Murphy, Head of Factual Entertainment. The film’s international sales for TIKTOK: Murders Gone Viral will be handled by ITV Studios.
Tom Reeves is Series Producer/Director, Robin Anderson is Producer/Director, Mal Sen and Tamar Mankassarian are Assistant Producers, Tom Charlesworth is Researcher, and Cat Lewis and Jazz Gowans are Executive Producers.
