FYI’s newest culinary offering, Jake Makes It Easy, arrives tonight with a double helping of deliciousness. Host Jake, a veteran of NYC’s high-end restaurant scene, aims to demystify cooking with his approachable style and emphasis on simple yet flavorful dishes.
In the first episode, “Iraqi Salmon & Date Brownies,” Jake shares two of his go-to recipes. The salmon, roasted and coated in a spiced caramelized onion and tomato sauce, sounds like a delightful fusion of flavors. And who doesn’t love a rich, fudgy brownie, especially when it features the unexpected sweetness of dates?
Episode two, “Spinach Feta Pie & Baklava,” takes a creative spin on traditional hand pies. Jake’s version is filled with white beans, spinach, and feta, offering a vegetarian option that could easily serve as a main course or a hearty side. For dessert, he whips up some baklava, with its layers of flaky pastry and nutty, syrupy goodness.
I love easy. Could this be the cooking show that finally inspires me to ditch takeout and embrace the joys of homemade meals?
Jake Makes It Easy premieres tonight, Monday, October 28, 2024, with back-to-back episodes starting at 10:00 PM on FYI.
