The Grand Tour host James May will embark on a new adventure for Channel 5, retracing the footsteps of some of history’s most famous explorers. The three-part series, titled The Great Explorers with James May, will see the presenter follow in the paths of Christopher Columbus, Sir Walter Raleigh, and Captain James Cook.
Each 90-minute episode will focus on one iconic explorer, examining their well-known expeditions and revealing lesser-known facts about their lives. “We all think we know the basic pub facts about these three great men, but the reality may come as a bit of a surprise” said May.
The Great Explorers with James May is a 3 x 90-minute series commissioned by Channel 5 and produced by Plum Pictures. Will Daws serves as Managing Director and Executive Producer, while Guy Davies is the Commissioning Editor for Factual at Channel 5. More details on release and air dates are forthcoming.
