The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) has announced that Emmy-winning TV anchor Jane Pauley and Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibney will be honoured with lifetime achievement awards at the 45th annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards. The awards ceremony will take place over two days, 25-26 September, at the Palladium Times Square in New York City.
Adam Sharp, president and CEO of NATAS, said of the awards “We are honored to pay tribute to these two revered icons of our industry, Jane Pauley and Alex Gibney continue to reach viewers while at the same time opening doors for those coming behind them.”
Jane Pauley, with a distinguished career in journalism, said “I am so grateful for this recognition. It is the honor of a lifetime.” She reflected on her journey as a “winding path” that led to her current role as host of CBS News Sunday Morning, crediting her success to collaborations with talented journalists and innovators.
Alex Gibney also conveyed his appreciation for the honour, dedicating the award to his colleagues, including producers, cinematographers, and editors, echoing Muhammed Ali’s “Me, We” poem.
The lifetime achievement awards acknowledge the significant contributions of Pauley and Gibney to television news and documentaries.
