Jensen Ackles, known for his leading role in the long-running series “Supernatural,” will take center stage in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming thriller series “Countdown.” Joining him is Jessica Camacho, famed for her roles in “The Flash” and “Bosch: Legacy,” who will feature as the female lead.
“Countdown” centers on a mysterious murder in broad daylight, which draws Los Angeles Police Department officer Mark Meachum (Ackles) into a covert task force. This diverse team comprises undercover agents from various law enforcement branches. As they look into the investigation, they uncover a plot that threatens the city, forcing them to set aside personal differences to avert disaster.
Camacho portrays Amber Oliveras, a seasoned agent with 14 years of experience in the Drug Enforcement Agency. Oliveras is a no-nonsense, independent operator who sees the task force as an intriguing opportunity to collaborate, despite her history of solo success.
The series was created by Derek Haas, known for his work on the “One Chicago” franchise and as co-creator of “FBI: International.” Haas will also serve as executive producer and showrunner, adding to his impressive resume.
Countdown has secured a 13-episode order for its first season.
