Jeopardy! Friday, June 14, 2024, Recap, Winner, and Final Answer

Jeopardy! Ken Jennings

In the Friday June 14 episode of Jeopardy!, there was a tough competition between three new contestants: Kaitlin Tarr, an aspiring ceramicist from Denver, Colorado; Susan Ayoob, a content strategist from San Francisco, California; and Adriana Harmeyer, a 12-day champion archivist from West Lafayette, Indiana, with total winnings of $278,500.

The categories for the initial Jeopardy! round included 1824, Setting Pretty, That’s a Fact, Rhyming Phrases, Jen, and Tonic. Adriana demonstrated her knowledge and quick thinking by selecting the first Daily Double in the “Setting Pretty” category. The clue referred to the Verdi opera “Aida,” and she added $1,000 to her initial score of $1,800. Going into the first break, Adriana maintained a slight lead with $2,800, followed by Susan with $2,400 and Kaitlin with $1,200.

As the game progressed into Double Jeopardy!, new categories were introduced: Round Scotland, American Poets, Till Death Do Us Part, No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100, Foreign Words & Phrases, and Another Day in Parasites. Kaitlin encountered a setback during this round, losing $3,000 on the second Daily Double in the “Foreign Words & Phrases” category. However, she quickly recovered and secured the lead by the end of Double Jeopardy!, amassing a score of $12,800. Adriana trailed closely behind with $12,400, while Susan maintained a competitive position with $10,200.

The Final Jeopardy! category, “1960s America,” presented an intriguing clue about Hobart Taylor Jr. and his contribution to an executive order in 1961. Only Adriana provided the correct response, identifying the phrase as “What is affirmative action?” Her strategic wager of $8,100 solidified her victory, bringing her total winnings to $20,500 and a remarkable 13-day cumulative total of $299,000. It is worth noting that Adriana’s wagering strategy proved crucial, as even if Kaitlin had answered correctly, Adriana’s narrow lead would have ensured her victory.

The final scores reflected Adriana’s impressive performance, with Susan and Kaitlin finishing with $0 and $12,390, respectively.
