Friday’s “Jeopardy!” game served up a healthy dose of drama, with a nail-biting Double Jeopardy! round and a Final Jeopardy! clue that tripped up no one. But in the end, it was Alex DeFrank, hailing from Brooklyn, New York, who emerged triumphant, adding another victory to his now two-day total, banking a cool $42,401.
While Alex held a comfortable lead for much of the game, things got interesting in Double Jeopardy! when returning champion Jack Goldfisher and challenger Jamie Hare from Decatur, Georgia both found themselves staring down Daily Doubles.
Jamie, wagering with gusto, played aggressively during those all-or-nothing moments. Her gamble paid off, briefly tying her score with Alex’s at one point during the round. But Alex held on, taking a decent lead into Final Jeopardy!
The Final Jeopardy! category was “MUSICALS”. The clue was “A Broadway hit in the 21st century, it begins with a doorbell ringing”.
All three contestants correctly responded “The Book of Mormon”. Alex wagered a hefty $16,001, bringing his total winnings to $42,401, securing his victory. Jamie came in second with $24,799, nearly making a comeback. One-day champion Jack took home third place with $8,400.
“Jeopardy!” airs weekdays in syndication. Check your local listings for showtimes.
