Alex DeFrank, the “Jeopardy!” champion whose steady climb has gripped viewers, continued his winning streak Wednesday night, securing a fourth victory and boosting his total winnings to a hefty $102,400. The inventory specialist from Brooklyn, New York, showcased a masterful command of the game, sweeping all three Daily Doubles and building an insurmountable lead.
DeFrank’s first Daily Double win came in the “10 POINTS FOR SLITHERIN'” category, where a $1,000 wager paid off handsomely. His second, a bolder $7,000 bet in “BALLET & OPERA,” further cemented his dominance. And finally, a $6,000 wager on an “OLYMPIC HOST CITY ATTRACTIONS” clue sealed the deal, leaving his opponents scrambling to catch up.
While DeFrank’s knowledge across a range of categories, including “MOVIES BY DECADE,” “FOREIGN WORDS & PHRASES,” and “POP CULTURE ANATOMY,” was impressive, it was his strategic betting on the Daily Doubles that truly set him apart. Even a missed Final Jeopardy! couldn’t derail his victory. The clue, concerning Copenhagen, the Duke of Wellington’s horse, was only correctly answered by contestant Adam Silverman. DeFrank finished with a final score of $26,800, adding another notch to his winning streak. Economics professor Ann Velenchik, from Brookline, Massachusetts, rounded out the contestants, finishing in third place with $6,000.
