Jeopardy! Ken Jennings

Monday’s episode of Jeopardy! featured these contestants: Dana Schwartz, a writer from Los Angeles, California; David Erb, a puzzle designer from Seattle, Washington; and Jen Feldman, a high school teacher from Brooklyn, New York, and two-day champion with winnings of $27,850.

The game kicked off with the following categories: Stringing You Along, 4 Times the Fun, Key or Peele, “Ette” Tu, Whodunnit?, and Magazines’ First Covers. David found the first Daily Double in the “4 Times the Fun” category, worth $800, with the clue: “Feudal Japanese society was divided into four distinct classes: merchants, artisans, farmers, and these warriors.” He answered correctly and doubled his score to $4,000. At the end of the round, Jen was in the lead with $3,400, followed by David with $1,800, and Dana with $2,000.

The Double Jeopardy! round brought new categories: I Served in 2 Presidents’ Cabinets, 8-Letter Words, Physical Science, Time to Buy Some Stuff, Former Capitals, and Oscar, Meet Tony. David continued his strong performance, finding both the second and third Daily Doubles. He wagered $5,000 on the second Daily Double, in the “Former Capitals” category, worth $1,200, and responded correctly.

For the third Daily Double, he bet $8,000 of his leading score of $14,400 on a clue in “Physical Science”: “Pascal’s law says that a change in this in a fluid in a closed container goes without loss to every part; Pascal tested it with a full barrel.” Again, he answered correctly, solidifying his lead.
