Jeopardy! Friday December 6, 2024 Recap: “Morticia Addams Returns?”

Jeopardy! Key Art

Springfield, Tennessee historian and educator, Erin Adams; Winston-Salem, North Carolina graduate student Zach DeBoer; and returning champion, retired grant writer Dave Bond from West Henrietta, New York, all vied for Jeopardy! supremacy. Bond, entering the fray with a one-day total of $25,000, faced stiff competition from his two challengers.

The first round, with categories ranging from “Pick Your Battles” to “A Player To Be Named,” saw Bond seize an early lead, capitalizing on a Daily Double about endorphins to boost his score. However, Adams and DeBoer remained hot on his heels, keeping the game competitive into Double Jeopardy!.

Double Jeopardy!, featuring “Literary Landmarks” and “2024 DNC State Roll Call Songs,” saw the lead change hands several times. Adams stumbled on a Daily Double about Pushkin, briefly jeopardizing her position. DeBoer made a strategic wager on a Daily Double related to Minnesota’s Democratic convention song selections, but Bond’s earlier gains proved crucial. He maintained a narrow lead heading into Final Jeopardy! with $16,400, followed by Adams with $13,000 and DeBoer with $12,000.

The Final Jeopardy! category, “TV Characters,” presented a tricky question: “On TV in the 1960s & the 2020s, this character has a first name that’s partly from Latin for ‘Death’.” Both Bond and Adams correctly identified Morticia Addams, but Bond’s strategic wager secured his victory. He added $10,000 to his score, finishing with $26,400, bringing his two-day total to a healthy $51,400.
