Who Won Jeopardy!

On Wednesday, March 7, 2024, a brand new episode of Jeopardy! aired, featuring three contestants competing in the Tournament of Champions. The participants were Sean McShane from South Boston, Massachusetts, Deb Bilodeau from San Francisco, California, and Troy Meyer from Tampa, Florida.

During the game, various categories were explored including “Shakespeare for Everyone!”, “Olympic History”, “Islands”, “Middle X”, “Waits”, and “Measures”. In one of the questions within the category “Shakespeare for Everyone!”, Deb encountered a challenging clue that resulted in a loss of 1,000. The clue asked about the speaker’s last speech which contained the line: “Thy husband is thy lord, thy life, thy keeper… thy sovereign.”

After the first break, Troy held a lead with 4,200 followed by Sean with 3,000 and Deb with 1,200. As they entered Double Jeopardy!, new categories were introduced including “1924”, “Unusual Words”, “The Arts”, “Occupations”, “Movie Taglines”, and”The Heavens & Earth”.

During Double Jeopardy!, Troy made strategic moves by successfully answering two Daily Doubles. One question focused on Cepheids as pulsating stars that fluctuate in brightness while another asked about an insurance specialist known as an actuary. Troy accumulated significant earnings throughout this round.

As they reached Final Jeopardy!, the category was revealed to be American Literary History. The clue referred to a quote from “The Fire Next Time,” stating: “The country is celebrating 100 years of freedom 100 years too soon” published in what year? Only Troy answered correctly with What is 1963? and wagered no money to secure his victory.

At the end of the game,Troy emerged as the winner with an impressive score of 38,400, while Deb finished with 8,400 and Sean with 5,999.
