In Friday’s episode of Jeopardy!, the contestants for the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament are Ben Ingram from Florence, South Carolina, Dhruv Gaur from Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Victoria Groce from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The categories for today’s game include “The Ancients Speak,” “State Flags,” “A Standout Stand-Up,” “Penalties & Bonuses,” “Classic Ad Slogans & Jingles,” and “13-Letter Words.”
During the first round, Dhruv gained an advantage by correctly answering a question in the category “The Ancients Speak.” The answer was Nero. At the end of the first round, Victoria led with a score of 3,400 points, followed by Dhruv with 5,400 points. Unfortunately for Ben, he ended up with a negative score of -1,600 points.
Moving on to Double Jeopardy!, new categories were introduced: “South American History,” “Plays & Playwrights,” “Biology ‘A,’ ‘B,’ ‘C’s’,” “A Warming Trend,” and others.
Ben faced a setback in the category of South American History when he answered incorrectly about Simon Iturri Patiño being Bolivia’s king of copper instead of tin. Dhruv took advantage of his opportunity in Biology to double his score with a correct response about chimeras.
Despite Victoria’s dominant performance throughout Double Jeopardy!, Dhruv managed to stay in contention by doubling his score on another Daily Double question. As they entered Final Jeopardy!, Victoria led with 22,800 points while Dhruv had 14,400 points and Ben trailed behind with 5,
For Final Jeopardy!, the category was “U.S.S.R.I.P.” The clue asked which country formed by the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 is alphabetically last. Both Victoria and Ben answered correctly with What is Uzbekistan?, with Victoria adding 6,001 points to her score.
The final scores were: Victoria with an impressive 28,801 points, Dhruv with 5,999 points, and Ben with 7,654 points.
