“Jeopardy!” Tuesday April 29 Recap: Contestants Stunned by Final Clue

In a surprising turn of events, Tuesday’s “Jeopardy!” game ended with all three contestants stumped by the Final Jeopardy! clue. Despite the collective brain freeze, data analyst Ben Ganger from Goshen, Indiana, emerged victorious.

Ganger, who displayed a strong command of the board throughout the game, finished with a respectable $24,999. His competitors, Rahel Zubairi, a physician from Scottsdale, Arizona, and one-day champion Erin Morin, a digital pre-press specialist from Aldie, Virginia, trailed with $1,799 and $600, respectively. Ganger’s correct responses on all three Daily Doubles played a large role in his victory.

The Final Jeopardy! category, “20th Century Figures,” seemed to promise a straightforward question. The clue described a man obsessed with Sherlock Holmes who, after studying business in Chicago, became an investigator for a credit company. The correct response? Who was Eliot Ness? The connection to Sherlock Holmes, however, appeared to throw off all three players, as none managed to come up with the correct response.

Ganger’s conservative wager of $901 in Final Jeopardy! proved to be a smart move. Even without correctly identifying Ness, he held onto a comfortable lead, securing his win. Earlier rounds saw the contestants tackle categories ranging from “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Scientists” to “Ancient Architecture.”
