“Jeopardy!” Tuesday March 18 Recap: Alex DeFrank Steals the Win with “Stealth” Move, Survives Tricky Final Jeopardy!

Jeopardy! Ken Jennings

Alex DeFrank, the Brooklyn-based inventory specialist, continues his winning streak on “Jeopardy!,” securing a third victory in Tuesday’s episode. While the Final Jeopardy! clue proved a stumbling block for all three contestants, DeFrank’s strategic play in Double Jeopardy! cemented his lead and brought his total winnings to a healthy $75,600.

Architectural designer David DeBacker seemed to have a comfortable lead going into Double Jeopardy!, confidently navigating categories like “THE ROAD TAKEN” and “ORGANIZATIONS.” He even correctly identified Isabel Allende on a Daily Double, recalling the pronunciation difficulties the author faced after fleeing Chile. However, DeFrank made a decisive “stealth” move, wagering big on a clue about a “cat burglar asset” and snatching the top spot.

Lily St. Laurent, a student assistant, fought hard but struggled to keep pace with her opponents, ultimately landing in third place. The categories, ranging from “THE DISNEY VILLAIN WHO SAID…” to the more traditional fare, offered a mixed bag for the contestants. St. Laurent did manage to snag a Daily Double early on, correctly identifying Ursula and adding $1,000 to her score.

But it was the Final Jeopardy! clue that truly leveled the playing field. The clue, referencing a classic TV setting with a “Maximum Room Capacity 75 Persons” notice, stumped all three. None managed to identify the iconic bar from “Cheers.” DeFrank’s conservative wager of $6,001 proved a wise decision, securing his win despite the incorrect response.
