Jeopardy! Monday December 23, 2024, Recap, “Another Win for Laura Faddah”

Jeopardy! Ken Jennings

Freelance web developer Jenifer Miller (Ann Arbor, MI), commercial real estate manager Sean Maguire (New York, NY), and returning champion Laura Faddah (Memphis, TN), a manager, squared off on Monday’s Jeopardy!. Faddah, entering the game with a two-day total of $17,000, faced stiff competition but ultimately maintained her winning streak.

The first round, featuring categories like “Words from Hindi” and “Television City,” saw Faddah briefly fall behind Maguire, but a well-timed Daily Double wager put her back in contention. By the first commercial break, she trailed Maguire by a small margin. The second round’s categories, including “Name That Supreme Court Justice” and “The Cinematic Vampire,” proved fertile ground for Faddah. She strategically capitalized on two Daily Doubles, widening the gap between herself and her competitors. Going into Final Jeopardy!, Faddah held a commanding lead with $15,600, while Maguire sat on $4,187 and Jenifer was on -$2,000

The Final Jeopardy! category, “World Leaders,” presented a challenging clue: “In 2009 this leader gave Barack Obama the book ‘Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent.'” Both Faddah and Maguire answered incorrectly. The correct Final Jeopardy! response was “Who Was Hugo Chávez?” Faddah wagered $2,400, bringing her final total to $13,200 and securing her third consecutive victory. Her three-day winnings now stand at an impressive $30,200.
