The “Jersey Shore” crew is hitting Miami again. Sure, they’ve grown up, spawned mini-guidos and guidettes, and traded fist-pumping for diaper changes (sometimes). But let’s not kid ourselves: a leopard can’t change its spray tan. This time, they’re ostensibly in Miami for Deena’s family vacation, a concept as potentially combustible as a Ron-Ron juicehead rage.
“Deena’s Family Vacation,” suggests a focus on wholesome family bonding, right? Maybe some heartwarming moments with the kids building sandcastles, while the adults reminisce about the good old days of questionable fashion choices and regrettable hookups? Don’t bet on it.
Instead, we’re likely to get a healthy dose of Pauly D and Sammi Sweetheart engaged in an epic prank war. Because nothing says “family fun” like escalating acts of absurd retribution, preferably involving strategically placed hair gel and maybe a rogue inflatable duck or two.
Remember when Miami was the backdrop for their youthful escapades, a playground of sun, surf, and questionable decisions? Now, they’re returning with a new generation in tow, attempting to recreate some of that magic while also preventing their kids from witnessing too many embarrassing parental moments. This inherent tension between past and present is what keeps “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” watchable, a bizarre blend of nostalgia and train-wreck television. Just try not to cringe too hard when someone inevitably yells, “Cabs are here!”
“Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” airs Thursdays at 8:00 PM on MTV.
