Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. A show about adults behaving like they’re still spring-breaking in Seaside Heights, only now with mortgages and minivans. In this week’s “Scavenger Hunt” episode, the aging guidos and guidettes continue their Miami Beach bacchanal, but not without a healthy dose of manufactured drama.
Apparently, Deena’s attempt at organized fun backfires spectacularly. Her meticulously planned scavenger hunt isn’t met with the childlike enthusiasm she’d anticipated. Instead, the roommates grumble about the activity, leaving Deena feeling unappreciated and possibly contemplating a return to the duck phone era. Let’s be honest, watching these folks attempt anything requiring coordination is always entertaining, even if it involves something as mundane as interpreting clues.
Elsewhere, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s zen is disrupted by an unexpected visitor. While the identity of this mystery guest isn’t revealed, one can only hope it’s someone who can challenge Mike’s carefully constructed persona of reformed party boy. Perhaps a debt collector? A disgruntled former “juicehead” gym buddy? The possibilities are endless, and frankly, more compelling than another round of “Dren’s” antics.
Then there’s the ongoing Angelina-Mike saga. The two apparently try to hash things out, attempting to “set the record straight” on whatever convoluted feud currently occupies their time. The question remains: is this genuine reconciliation or simply another manufactured plot point to fuel the never-ending drama? I’m leaning towards the latter. This being Jersey Shore, any truce is likely as fragile as a Ron-Sammi romance.
Jersey Shore: Family Vacation airs Thursdays at 8/7c on MTV.
