Paramount+ UK & Ireland is set to debut its upcoming psychological thriller series, Little Disasters, based on the novel by Sarah Vaughan. The series explores female friendships and the complexities of motherhood through four expectant mothers with diverse backgrounds and little in common except their due dates.
The series stars Diane Kruger (Troy, Inglourious Basterds) as Jess, and Jo Joyner (The Wives, For Her Sins) as Liz, friends whose lives take an unexpected turn when Jess’s baby is hospitalized with a head injury. Liz, an on-duty A&E doctor, is faced with a difficult choice: whether to involve social services and risk her friendship with Jess. This decision sets off a chain reaction, fracturing their families and bringing long-held judgments and issues to light.
Little Disasters explores the lives of these women, examining the pressures and challenges they face. It stars an impressive ensemble cast, including Shelley Conn (Gen V, Alex Rider), Emily Taaffe (The Rising, The Beast Must Die), JJ Feild (Turn, Austenland), Ben Bailey Smith (Star Wars: Andor, The Split), and Stephen Campbell Moore (The History Boys, Masters of the Air).
The screen adaptation is penned by Ruth Fowler and Amanda Duke and produced by Roughcut Television, the indie behind shows like COMA and Big Boys. Fremantle, which will distribute the series internationally, is associated with the production. Vaughan also joins the team of executive producers.
Airdate and streaming information for Little Disasters will be announced by Paramount+ UK & Ireland at a later date.
