Joel McHale’s “Animal Control” Gets Season 2 From FOX

Joel McHale’s “Animal Control” Gets Season 2 From FOX.
Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming at FOX Entertainment, made the announcement today that the network had picked up a second season of the Joel McHale–starring workplace comedy Animal Control. Since its premiere, the single-camera show has become FOX’s most-watched comedy series of the season and the network’s most-streamed scripted debut ever.
What is Animal Control About
The lives of a group of Animal Control officers in the series created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg, and Dan Sterling are complicated by the fact that animals are straightforward but people are not. McHale plays Frank, an animal control officer with an outspoken personality and a voracious reading appetite who may not have completed formal higher education. Frank is a former police officer who became cynical and grouchy after being fired for trying to expose corruption in his department. He seems to understand animals on a level that few humans can. But people? Nah.
Michael Rowland (Fred “Shred” Taylor), Vella Lovell (Emily Price), Ravi Patel (Amit Patel), and Grace Palmer (Victoria Sands) round out the cast of Animal Control alongside McHale.
Animal Control’s series premiere was the most-watched comedy episode in the history of FOX’s streaming service. With a +236% increase in multi-platform viewers compared to Live + Same Day, the series averages 4.7 million viewers.
Who is making the series
Animal Control is produced by FOX Entertainment Studios and executive-produced by Bob Fisher (Wedding Crashers, Sirens, The Moodys), Rob Greenberg (Frasier, How I Met Your Mother, The Moodys), Dan Sterling (Long Shot, The Interview, Girls, The Office, King of the Hill), Tad Quill (Scrubs, The Moodys) and McHale. The series is distributed by FOX Entertainment Global.
