Next week, Coronation Street viewers will witness the unexpected return of Jesse Chadwick, played by John Thomson.
His surprise arrival coincides with Eileen Grimshaw’s return from Thailand. However, Eileen is taken aback when she discovers Jesse hasn’t come to see her but instead is looking for her neighbour and long-time rival, Gail Rodwell.
It is soon revealed that Jesse and Gail reconnected during her travels a few years ago and have remained in contact. Jesse’s sudden visit is spurred by concern for Gail’s granddaughter Bethany, who recently experienced a cosmetic surgery disaster in Turkey. While Jesse claims his intentions are pure, the Grimshaw family remains wary, questioning his motives.
Jesse’s past relationship with Eileen and his questionable behaviour—including trying to woo her half-sister Julie—adds tension to the situation.
With Gail clearly happy to see her old friend and Eileen’s current partner George Shuttleworth likely feeling uneasy, the potential for further drama on the cobbles is high.
