Johnson & Knopfler’s Music Legends continues its exploration of musical icons with the fourth episode, “Nile Rodgers,” airing on Sky Arts.
In this episode, airing on Thursday 16 May, hosts Brian Johnson and Mark Knopfler travel to Miami, where they meet the legendary Nile Rodgers, a musician with an extraordinary career spanning decades. Together, they explore into Nile’s impressive body of work, from his iconic days in Studio 54 to his collaborations with music giants such as David Bowie and Daft Punk.
As the co-founder of the band Chic, Nile helped define the disco era with hits like “Le Freak” and “Good Times.” However, his influence extends far beyond one genre. Nile has worked with an incredible range of artists, producing and writing for the likes of Madonna, Diana Ross, and Duran Duran. He collaborated with David Bowie on the album “Let’s Dance” and with Daft Punk on “Get Lucky.”
In the episode, Brian and Mark meet with Nile in Miami, where they discuss his remarkable journey. They explore his early days in New York City, where he established himself as a talented guitarist and songwriter, and his pivotal role in shaping the sound of disco.
