Jon Hamm’s “Your Friends & Neighbors” Renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV+ Before Season 1 Premiere

Apple TV+ has demonstrated some serious confidence in Jon Hamm’s return to television. The streamer has renewed “Your Friends & Neighbors” for a second season, a bold move considering the first season’s nine episodes won’t even debut until Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Since his iconic turn as Don Draper in “Mad Men,” Jon Hamm has been working non-stop but generally in supporting roles or as part of an ensemble. Here he is carrying the show as Andrew “Coop” Cooper, the central figure in this suburban noir. Coop, a disgraced hedge fund manager, turns to pilfering from his wealthy neighbors, a choice that quickly entangles him in a web of dangerous secrets.

The series is created by Jonathan Tropper, known for his work on “Warrior,” “Banshee,” and “See.” Craig Gillespie directed the first two episodes, and Stephanie Laing, Greg Yaitanes, and Tropper himself also directed episodes in the first season. The series also stars Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, and Mark Tallman.

Apple’s early renewal signals a strong belief in the show’s potential. While preemptive renewals are becoming more common in the streaming landscape, renewing a show before its premiere is still a notable vote of confidence. It suggests that Apple sees “Your Friends & Neighbors” as a key part of its future programming lineup.

“Your Friends & Neighbors” premieres Thursday, April 11, 2024 on Apple TV+.
