“Josh Johnson: Up Here Killing Myself” New Stand Up Special for Peacock
Today, Peacock announced that Josh Johnson’s hour-long stand-up comedy special, “Up Here Killing Myself,” will premiere on Friday, February 17. In this hour of stand-up comedy, Johnson discusses his experiences in therapy relating to his father, a stalker, and financial issues. Josh talks to his therapist (and the audience) about his experiences with poverty, loss, and discovering the world for the first time in this hilarious exploration of Black mental health and self-discovery.
Nothing is off limits for Josh Johnson to dissect in his first Peacock comedy special, Up Here Killing Myself. Louisiana native and current New Yorker Johnson is a writer, performer, and NAACP award winner. Johnson has written for “The Daily Show” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where he made his late-night television debut, in addition to producing his own comic specials. Johnson is the “most watched comedian ever” on Comedy Central, with over 40 million views.
“In my session that turned into the special, we talked about family, my feelings toward money, and just random thoughts that I didn’t feel like I could tell anyone else. The subject matter didn’t immediately jump out to me as funny; in fact, some of it was hard to make jokes about. I hope the takeaway from this piece is that you’re never alone. Everyone is going through something and it’s important to be kind to one another because we never know what that something could be. This is my way of opening up about my own journey.”
