Katie Piper’s exploration of the lives and stories within New Orleans Parish Prison continues this Sunday with a case that blurs the lines between justice and vengeance. In episode four of “Locked Up in Louisiana,” Piper meets Kia, a woman accused of attempted murder. Kia’s story adds another dimension to Piper’s investigation of the notorious prison as she explores the circumstances leading to the women’s alleged crimes.
Working as a security guard, Kia shot a man, leading to the attempted murder charge. Her claim of self-defense is the crux of the matter, forcing Piper to examine the events and question whether the force used was truly reasonable, or something more.
