Let’s face it, the holiday season is practically upon us, and with it comes the annual deluge of festive films. This Friday, The Kelly Clarkson Show looks set to offer a preview of one of the more intriguing entries, Red One, featuring a cast that’s about as A-list as it gets for a Christmas action-comedy. Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, and Lucy Liu are scheduled to grace Kelly’s stage to discuss the film, which is expected to bring a bit of explosive cheer to the holiday season.
Beyond the star power, the episode aims to deliver a healthy dose of Kellyoke, with Clarkson tackling Taylor Swift’s “Lavender Haze.” It’s probably not quite a Christmas carol, but hey, who needs “Silent Night” when you’ve got Kelly belting out pop hits?
Red One sees Johnson’s character, a North Pole security chief (because of course he is), partnering with Chris Evans’ bounty hunter to rescue Santa Claus, played by the always-excellent J.K. Simmons. Directed by Jake Kasdan, who has some experience with holiday hijinks after helming Jingle All the Way, the film sounds like a cocktail of Christmas spirit and action movie tropes, which, depending on your taste, is either a recipe for disaster or holiday gold.
Adding to the festive chaos, J.K. Simmons, Bonnie Hunt, and Kiernan Shipka will also be joining the fun for what’s sure to be a crowded couch. The episode will also feature a “Kellyoke With Us” segment.
The Kelly Clarkson Show airs this Friday, November 15, at 3:00 pm on NBC.
