Lifetime’s latest “Ripped From the Headlines” movie unearths a chilling true crime story that hits close to home—literally. Kidnapped By A Killer: The Heather Robinson Story, airing Saturday, June 7 at 8 PM ET, follows the unsettling journey of a teenage girl who discovers her uncle is not just a criminal, but a serial killer—and that her own biological mother was one of his victims.
The film centers on Heather Robinson, who at 15 learned her uncle, John Robinson, was accused of murdering several women in the Kansas City area. Already aware she was adopted, Heather’s world implodes as she grapples with the horrifying realization that her birth mother’s disappearance is directly linked to her uncle’s crimes.
The movie traces Heather’s pursuit of answers as she tries to piece together the truth about her past and the extent of her uncle’s depravity. Adding extra star power—and perhaps a bit of Lifetime-brand emotional rescue—is Jana Kramer, who plays an investigator working the case.
Kidnapped by a Killer joins the network’s growing roster of true-crime adaptations, and while the “ripped from the headlines” formula is by now well-established, the intensely personal angle of this story sets it apart.
“Kidnapped By A Killer: The Heather Robinson Story” premieres Saturday, June 7 at 8:00 PM ET on Lifetime.
