On Monday, February 3, Kids Baking Championship combines two of the internet’s favorite things: adorable puppies and elaborate desserts. In “Paws for Applause,” the eight remaining young bakers will tackle a Puppy Bowl-themed challenge, creating paw-print desserts under the watchful eyes of Duff Goldman, Kardea Brown, and special guest “Dan the Ref.”
One can only hope Dan the Ref is a real referee and not some anthropomorphic dog in a striped shirt. The presence of actual, live puppies, however, is confirmed. One imagines the chaos in the kitchen will be amplified tenfold with the addition of furry, four-legged distractions.
Beyond the paw-print pastries, the bakers will also face off in a dessert bark battle. I’m not entirely sure what “dessert bark” is, but it sounds vaguely terrifying. Hopefully, it involves more chocolate and less tree bark. Regardless, it’s sure to be a high-stakes showdown of sugary creativity.
Will the kids crumble under the pressure, or will they rise to the occasion and deliver a touchdown-worthy dessert spread? Tune in to Food Network on Monday, February 3 at 8:00 PM ET/PT to find out. It’s sure to be a cuter-than-average episode, even if the desserts end up looking more like dog biscuits than culinary masterpieces.
