The Kitchen is leaning into summer with a boardwalk-themed menu that’s heavy on fried food, fresh flavors, and handheld treats. In an episode titled “Under the Boardwalk,” the five-host panel tackles seaside classics with their usual rapid-fire efficiency.
Sunny Anderson kicks things off with Fish Tacos paired with a Mango Slaw, a dish that fits squarely in her wheelhouse of bright, accessible cooking. Geoffrey Zakarian handles the drinks, mixing up a Lemon Drop Slushie, while Katie Lee Biegel delivers a crowd-pleaser with her Chicken Sausage with Peppers and Onions Slider Bake.
The culinary tour of the shore continues with Alex Guarnaschelli’s Fried Clams, served alongside a Spicy Mayo Dipping Sauce that gives the standard tartar a run for its money. Not to be outdone, Jeff Mauro takes on dessert with a homemade Rocky Road Fudge, a boardwalk staple that’s surprisingly easy to make at home. Between the cooking segments, the cast plays a round of “Try or Deny,” a game designed to test their willingness to sample unusual boardwalk food combinations.
